Begin the critical Hydraulic-Suction-and-Seal-Integrity-Audit by performing a Vacuum-Boundary-Analysis of the primary pool pump's strainer-basket lid and gasket. The primary objective is to verify that the O-ring creates a 100% airtight seal under negative pressure, as even a microscopic 1mm air leak (a Suction-Side-Leak) allows air to be ingested into the impeller, causing the pump to Lose-Prime and potentially burning out the $1,500 motor in less than 2 hours due to Dry-Running and lack of cooling water. Start by performing the Clear-Lid-Bubble-Audit: with the pump running at high speed, look through the acrylic lid. To achieve a Gold Standard of hydraulic efficiency, the chamber should be 100% full of water with zero air bubbles; if you see a Swirl-of-Air or the water level is below the top of the lid, your gasket is failing and is introducing air into the filtration circuit. Conduct the Gasket-Compression-and-Elasticity-Scan: remove the lid and inspect the O-ring for Flattening (where the round profile has become square) or Micro-Cracking.
